3D interactive data visualization, using Green Phosphor's "Glasshouse" tool, of total greenhouse gas emissions [expressed in equivalent tgco2], as reported under the Kyoto Protocol, by country, category, and year. You can see the size of the US emissions, who's close to us in emissions, and a severe economic event in the Russian Federation, as reflected in emissions. Also, note the disproportionate emissions due to transportation, in the US.

Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions in the United StatesAug 27, 2010
Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions in the United States: Using Existing Federal Authorities and State Action. In a first-of-its-kind analysis, the World Resources Institute (WRI) has calculated the potential greenhouse gas reductions that could be achieved by federal agencies under a range of existing authorities and by sates through announced plans. The analysis concludes that if they act aggressively, and if EPA's authority is preserved, the federal government and states can put the United States on a near-term course to considerably reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but longer-term emissions remain uncertain.

Briefing on latest Greenhouse Gas Data and expected outcomes of Poznań conferenceAug 20, 2010
UNFCCC Executive Secretary Yvo de Boer briefed the press on the latest key greenhouse gas data and on the upcoming Climate Change Conference in Poznań. While emissions for the 41 Parties that have greenhouse gas reporting obligations under the Convention had fallen by 5% in the period 1990 to 2006, they had been clearly on the rise since the year 2000, he said. Emissions for countries which have ratified the Kyoto Protocol had fallen by 17% in the period 1990 to 2006, but had also been growing since the year 2000. Looking ahead to Poznań, Mr. de Boer said it was the important halfway mark in the two-year process leading up to Copenhagen in 2009, which he described as "one of the most complicated negotiating processes the international community has ever seen. Ministers in Poznań would discuss their vision of long-term cooperation to address climate change, and a draft negotiating text would be on the table for the first time, he said. He also expressed the hope that the Adaptation Fund would become fully operational at Poznań.
